Dear Greywall Club Residents,
I was contacted by Karla Budz, a Greywall Club resident and
leader of Girl Scout Troop 391, about volunteering to do a charity
holiday food drive again this year. Our neighborhood food drive
last year was a big success and the girl scouts did a great job in
helping collect the food from the residents. This is a community
service project for the girls.
The holiday food drive will benefit Joliet Morning Star Mission
Ministries, a shelter for the hungry and homeless. With the
downturn in the economy and increasing unemployment there are more
people suffering and in need of help. The Mission accepts
non-perishable items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, etc.
On Saturday, November 15, the girl scouts will attach a plastic
grocery bag to your mailbox or doorknob (depending on the
weather). The following week, on Saturday, November 21 starting at
9:00 a.m., they will pick-up the grocery bag containing your donated
items. Please place your bag of donations on your front step for
easy pick-up. If you miss the pick-up or your donation is
overlooked please call Karla Budz (815-439-1931) or me
(815-432-5632) so arrangements can be made to collect your donated
items. Karla and the girls will deliver the donations to Joliet
Morning Star Mission on November 23.
Any help you can give to this worthy cause will be greatly
appreciated..
